LETTER STUDIES
✤
Collection Notes
An exploration of lettering through hand engraving. These studies examine historical alphabets, inscriptions, and the visual character of written language, considering the engraved letter as both craft and design.
As new editions are created, the study continues to grow.
Recent Editions
Edition Status - Closed. This ring is based upon a discontinued design and is therefore offered as a finished work rather than an ongoing commission.
The example shown features a hand-engraved beaded leaf border surrounding a central provenance panel, intended for one or two initials, or a personal marking, priced separately.
An Inside Inscription
An inside inscription offers an opportunity to add another layer of meaning to your provenance band. It might be a date, initials, a favourite line of poetry, a blessing, or a phrase known only to the two of you.
The Inscriptions Library offers a growing collection of historical quotations, traditional inscriptions and thoughtful phrases to explore, or you are welcome to provide your own.
Each inscription is individually hand engraved and priced separately.

Individual Study Notes - This letter study reproduces a medieval latin abecedarian sentence used to train novice scribes. It translates to "Your achievements rise above the earth and throughout the region of the zephyr". The engraving faithfully copies a monk's handwriting from his notebook, including the correction he made while practicing.
