Running Leaf
✤
A pattern that changes with the ring.
—❦—
A pattern that changes with the ring.
Running Leaf is one of the most versatile patterns in the collection. Built from a continuous rhythm of leaves, it can be opened up, compressed, mirrored, interrupted or allowed to change direction as it travels around the band.
The half leaf is a narrower treatment, particularly suited to finer bands, the sides of a ring, or as a complement to a more detailed central engraving.
The double leaf mirrors the pattern to create a fuller design across the width of the band. From there, the pattern can become more elaborate — broken by flowers, turned in a new direction, or combined with beadwork, stones and other details.
No two applications need to be quite the same.
✥
Applications
—❦—
❦HALF LEAF
A single running edge of foliage. Fine, directional and particularly useful along narrow areas or the sides of bands, particularly engagement rings that taper up to a central stone.
❦DOUBLE LEAF
Two mirrored runs forming the fuller Running Leaf pattern. Balanced and rhythmic, with enough presence to carry a band on its own.
❦INTERRUPTED
Flowers, stones or other details can interrupt the repeat, creating focal points and changing the rhythm of the pattern.
❦CHANGING DIRECTION
The leaves can turn, meet or travel in different directions rather than simply repeating continuously around the ring.
❦WITH BEADWORK & STONES
Beaded details and stone setting can be incorporated into the pattern rather than feeling added afterwards.
Made to fit the band
Running Leaf doesn't have to be reproduced exactly from one ring to another. Its scale, spacing and arrangement can be adjusted to suit the width and profile of your band, and the amount of engraving you would like.
That adaptability is part of the pattern.
You don't need to decide every detail at this stage.
Begin by telling me about your ring, or the band you'd like supplied, and the approximate engraving coverage you have in mind.
Finer details of the design can be worked out with you afterwards.
Making It Yours
